Mario Matejcek

Mario Matejcek began his tennis journey 22 years ago at three years old. Mario highlights the 'process of the sport' as being one of the key factors as to why he has a lifelong love for the game. As a player, he passionately pursued his tennis striving to maximise his potential, which resulted in his dream of playing on the ATP tour for two years (2015-2017). Post his playing career, Mario began his coaching journey and achieving the Tennis Australia Junior Development and Professional certifications. Mario embarked on what he describes as one of his most fulfilling roles yet as the Director and Head Tennis Coach of Spark Tennis which he founded in late 2018 in the Macedon Ranges, Victoria (Australia). From a humble beginning of 17 students, Spark Tennis now facilitates over 200 students across 3 venues. Mario offers authentic, strengths-based instruction that is nurturing and fosters growth both on and off the court. When asked what motivates him, Mario simply explains that 'in helping people to realise and ignite their potential’.
